From the historic Yoxford division of Wattegodde Estate in Talawakelle comes a tea unlike any other. Once a coffee estate before being replanted with tea in the late 19th century, Yoxford is home to seedling bushes nearly 150 years old, their deep taproots drawing character from the mist-covered highland soil.
Revived after years of neglect, these venerable fields now yield the Yoxford Heritage Oolong a handmade tea crafted in micro-lots of just one kilo at a time. Plucked only in the early morning, the leaves are gently withered, hand rolled, lightly oxidised, and then sun-dried to preserve their natural complexity.
The result is a rare Oolong with layered aromas and depth, bridging the craftsmanship of Ceylon’s past with the precision of today. Distinct from the estate’s orthodox rotovane teas, Yoxford Heritage Oolong captures the true artistry of handmaking tea in Sri Lanka’s highlands.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma of warm wood and floral highland mist. Mellow yet rounded cup with honeyed top notes and a subtle mineral finish.
Availability:
