Before sunrise, specialist tea pluckers select the most tender two leaves and a bud of the tea bush. It is essential that the master tea maker uses all his expertise, patience and effort to transform the hand picked tea leaves and preserve the tip. It takes 5 kilos of two leaves and a bud to produce 1 kilo of this special Golden Tippy Tea.
The secret behind these Golden Tips is the steeping of the freshly plucked bud in a cup of the highest quality Ceylon Orange Pekoe. The black tea stains the silvery white hairs on the bud giving the buds its unique golden colour. The expert Tea maker then hand sifts the made tea and extracts the bud whilst carefully adding the Tip content back to the black tea.
