Description
The world’s pioneer Organic Tea plantation.
Organic tea was first trialled and pioneered in the rolling hill country of Sri Lanka’s Uva region.
The use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides were dropped and a new method of Organic farming was practised.
Today Idalgashinna Estate, which is located near the town of Haputale in the heart of the Uva basin, is one of the worlds few tea gardens that produce quality organic teas.
The bushes grow on picturesque slopes that range from 5000 – 6000ft and are subject to the Uva flavoury season that takes place during the months of July to August.
The estate produces a classic Afternoon Orange Pekoe, that is perfect on its own or with a scone clotted cream and jam.
Notes of biscuits, honey and vanilla are found in this cup.
